Toshiba Disk Management Tool For Mq01abd Series Machine

Duo Wifi Management Tool For Mac
Upgraded a previously upgraded 2010 iMac from 3T to 6T - using the TOSMD04ACA600P. This time using High Sierra 10.13.6. It has been a few years since the first upgrade, and things have changed for the better since then. Long story short, it was pretty much the same as before, only easier. Plugged in the drive externally while still operating using the old drive and formatted the new one quickly; then installed it in the machine - swapping old for new; then had Time Machine 'restore' everything to the new disc. Copying over 3T using USB 2.0 took 24 hours, but it seems to have run perfectly - in the end it was just restart and go.. Support was prompt and encouraging - which was nice - but I could have probably installed the bare drive and let TM/Apple figure out what I wanted without the external format first. But, maybe Support had it right and I had to do it that way.. At least it all worked out. The drive does make some noise when seeking/writing, but not more than the original 1T drive and I quickly forgot all about it. Boots up faster, operates faster, and tons of new room. I know that it’s getting power because the LED light on the front of the case is lit and I know that the HDD is not being read because that same LED light is not blinking in regular intervals and whenever I physically feel it there’s no rumble feeling of parts moving inside.
I have a general suspicion that it’s the USB cable since after a few attempts of plugging in the Micro B part of the cable to the ex. HDD it would suddenly be able to boot up, though this victory is short-lived as whenever I take the USB cable out the computer and plug it back in it suddenly stops working again.
However I'm also wondering, could it be a problem with the Ex. HDD itself? Like the Micro B port got knocked loose v.slightly out of alignment, so it’s not making a proper connection and that's causing it not to get read.
So have you had any similar problems and if so how did you go about fixing it?
